Search is one of those products that is hard.

Obviously I am as invested in the Google System as anyone and routinely use Google products to do a wide variety of things. Slowly but surely I have moved away from my reliance on Google for various things online. Email to Proton, Calendar to Proton, Password manager to 1Password etc.

For a long time, Search was one of the Google products that had no equal. If you wanted to find something with speed, efficiency and accuracy, Google was the site. I have tried many alternatives Brave, Neeva (rip), DuckDuckGo and a host of others.

They all just didn’t quite work. Mainly results, they just weren’t good enough.

That is until I came across a privacy preserving search engine called Kagi.

Now, this is a paid search engine. Which I know in this world of free and/or freemium products does feel weird.

I also concede that it is a privilege in this economic situation that I can spend money on what a lot of companies give away for “free”.

Having said that this platform does search extremely well. As you can imagine a lot of searches are quite niche, weird tech and nerdy stuff. I have only used Google a handful of times since transitioning to Kagi.

It also has a few other features that are useful, Kagi Summarizer does an absolutely stellar job of summarising pretty anything you can throw at it.

If you have the cash as well as want to support a privacy preserving search engine please give Kagi a go.
